What is the Driving out Cancer Motor Rally & Car Show?

The Driving Out Cancer Motor Rally -Maryland is a 50 mile police escorted drive starting at the Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille in Edgewater, MD and ending at the Tiki Bar in Solomon’s Island MD. The purpose of the motor rally is to increase public awareness and raise funds for cancer research, education and social support programs.

The Car Show takes place at the ending point of the motor rally. Car owners will be given time to clean up their cars for presentation in the show. Once the show opens, cars will be judged by the public in several categories including (but not limited to): Best Interior, Best Paint, Best Engine Bay, Best in Show and more! Awards will be presented to the winners before the show closes.


Who can participate?

Anyone owning an antique, muscle, custom, exotic car or truck, high end luxury vehicle, motorcycle or chopper. A $45 non-refundable registration fee is required for advanced registration ($55 for on-site registration). Because this is a charity event, registrants are asked to raise additional funds through donations and sponsorships. Donations can be made by check, cash or money order and submitted during the check-in process on the morning of the event. Donations/Sponsorships can also be made online using Paypal (coming soon!). 

The registrant who collects the most in donations will be recognized at the car show and awarded a prize!

How can I raise funds?

Be creative! Ask everyone you know for support: family, friends, colleagues, neighbors and local businesses. Previous Driving Out Cancer participants have had success in asking employers and local businesses to sponsor their participation. Many employers will match their employees' donations as well.

Be sure to let your donors know that the Geriatric Oncology Consortium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and that their donation is tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Receipts will be issued for tax purposes.
 

When is the Motor Rally?

The Driving Out Cancer Motor Rally & Car Show - Maryland is scheduled for Saturday September 27, 2008.  Check in and on-site registration will begin at 9:00 a.m.  We will depart the Greene Turtle Parking lot at 10:15 a.m.  Please be on time.

           
The car show will start at 12:00 PM and end at 4:00PM.
